BTEC LEVEL 3 Certificate in IT at De Aston School

Course description

Students study two core units and an additional one from a choice of 41 optional units. The first unit focusses on communication and employability skills, helping students develop themselves to become an effective employee and giving them an edge in a very competitive job market.

The other core unit looks at computer hardware and software, where students will specify, build and optimise a computer. Students can continue with this course into Year 13 to complete the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in IT.

Optional units cover many different aspects of IT including, networks, programming, database design, games design, e-commerce, website production, animation and graphics. 

Special Features: The wide choice of optional modules (41 units) gives us the ability to tailor study to the interests and abilities of the group.

Entry requirements

4 A*- C grades at GCSE plus at least a D grade in GCSE English Language. A vocational qualification will be considered as an equivalent to a GCSE qualification provided that at least a Level 2 Pass has been achieved overall.
