Music and Performing Arts Diploma Level 1 at New College Stamford

Course description

Gain an introduction to the Performing Arts industry and develop a range of performance techniques, rehearsal skills and technical skills as well as the opportunity to set up your own performing arts event. This course is your first steps for a successful career in the Music and Performing Arts industry.This course is 100% coursework based.

Course content

You will be working both independently and in small groups in our state of the art rehearsal rooms, recording facilities and theatre. Much of your time will be spent learning theory and preparing material for performances and assessments. Practical Music assessments take place at local music venues in order to give you real world experience of working in the industry. Learners are typically required to conduct up to 60 hours work experience some of which is planned by the college. Examples of these are setting up, running and/or performing at live music events.

Entry requirements

No formal entry qualifications required.


There are no exams for this course. Students build a portfolio of work for each of the units and complete a mixture of practical and written based assignments.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you can progress on to Performing Arts orMusicLevel 2 Diplomas.
