Wind Turbine Technician at Humberside Engineering Training Association

Course description

In order to be an effective wind turbine technician you will learn the underlying theory of how a wind turbine actually works, from the principals of aerodynamics to meteorology and electricity generation. You will cover electrical basics like AC and DC transmission as well as the use of control instrumentation and fibre optics to make sure that the turbine is generating at optimum efficiency whenever possible. Finally you will need to know how the mechanical systems operate in conjunction with the hydraulic systems to actually move the turbine and the generation system. Once you have completed this wide range of training you will become part of the highly skilled and specialised workforce that, it is hoped, will place the UK in the forefront of the global market in renewable energy generation.
