Childcare and Education CACHE Level 3 Award at Middlesbrough College

Course description

The CACHE Level 3 Award in Childcare and Education prepares learners to progress to the CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Childcare and Education and then on to the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator). It provides learners with knowledge of children from birth to 7 years. This course prepares you for progression onto a full Level 3 course. It will help you to develop the skills and knowledge required for childcare whilst also improving your English and Maths. You are required to complete a work placement in a childcare setting which will be arranged through discussion with our placement team.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs A-C. Must have achieved a D or L1 FS in English and Maths. A successful interview and satisfactory reference. You will undertake and require a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure Application "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."


This programme is assessed through a number of methods including written assignments, presentations, case studies and professional discussion. Part of the assessment is also completed within a childcare setting through observations.

Future opportunities

Successful students can progress to a full Level 3 Childcare programme which will include Qualified Practitioner Status for children aged 0-8 years.
