Business Studies BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Lincoln Castle Academy
You would choose this BTEC Level 3 course if you have enjoyed studying Business in Years 9, 10 and 11 and know that you are more successful at coursework projects, than examinations. You may also be a student who is good at examinations, but you may want to choose a subject that does not have the exam time pressures of ‘AS’ and ‘A2’ courses. Students often like to create a 'balance'.
Students will often pick Business Studies as it draws together skills from other subjects, such as Maths, English, ICT, History, Ethics and many more. Skills learned include: mathematical; financial; analytical; evaluative; using a wide variety of sources; research; self-management; managing others; working in teams; interviewing people in industry; visiting businesses and conducting yourself maturely whilst doing so. Maths, English, ICT in particular, but Business Studies goes with most other subjects you may choose.
English and Maths grade ‘C’ are essential. BTEC ‘Merit’ grade or above or GCSE Business grade ‘B are highly desirable. Students must have a strong sense of purpose and a high level of motivation coupled with well developed time management skills. There are strict deadlines set on this course and they must be met.
You might want to start your own business or go in to careers in events management, financial services, retail management or accountancy. Many past students have taken their love of this subject further and have gone on to Degree level Business courses with future careers being as varied as teaching, accountancy, law and marketing. This course attracts UCAS points just like any other Level 3 course and is widely accepted at higher education establishments.
