IMI Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair at Trafford College

Course description

This is a course designed to give you the skill and knowledge used in the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles.Areas of study for Level 2 include: Health & Safety, Foundation Skills, Vehicle Construction & Routine, Maintenance: Tyres and Brakes; Suspension, Steering, Cooling; Engines, Fuel SI and CI, Transmission; Electrical and Electronic Systems.Functional Skills: Students will also be required to carry out qualifications in English and Maths at Level 2.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade D including maths and English. Prior knowledge required, a successful interview and if possible a work related reference.


The programme is based on continuous practical assessment and multi-choice examinations.
