Sport at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy

Course description

The course consists of six units: The Sports Industry; Health&Safety; The Body in Sport; The Sports Leader; Leadership and Practical Performance; Sports Leadership and Preparation for Sport. The principle of the BTEC First Diploma is to offer an alternative to GCSE by providing a work related qualification which will enable further study or provide a pathway to a sport related career. Successful completion of the course is equivalent to 4GCSE at Grades A* - C.

    •  We are the only secondary school in the Black Country to hold FA Centre status.  Students who attend the Football Academy will combine guided learning hours in the Football Academy alongside their Sixth Form subjects.  There is also the opportunity for students to stay on in Year 14 to follow our Apprenticeship Programme or to take advantage of the links we have with football coaching camps in the USA or our links with the University of Worcester to access higher education.
