Acting BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Trinity School
You will develop a range of new skills and refine existing talents. From day one you take ownership of all your work. The course is vocational, creating work for real audiences, studying texts and practitioners, encouraging appreciation of dramatic styles and techniques. UCAS recognises the worth of BTEC and the qualification is worth the same points as one A2 Level.
At Trinity, we offer a 2 year BTEC in Acting that begins in Year 12. On completion of the course, you will have a qualification which is the equivalent to A Level. The course content is very flexible; you study two mandatory units: ‘Performing to an Audience’ and ‘Principles of Acting’, but the remainder will be chosen by your teacher to suit your group.
Some possible options include Contemporary Theatre Performance, Devising Plays; Classical Theatre performance, TV and Film Acting and Physical Theatre. You will work on scripted pieces and will have the opportunity to devise your own. You will also have the chance to take part in practical workshops with professionals from outside of Trinity and will get to see a range of live theatre performances.
The BTEC in Acting is portfolio-based where throughout the course you will be assessed on your practical work, including the rehearsal process and final performances. You will need to keep a log book about your work and this will be submitted as part of the evidence package for the qualification. There will be a variety of tasks to complete, including carrying out research and writing essays and evaluations.
This course lays the foundation for a range of further study. BTEC Acting will begin to prepare you for a career in Theatre, Film or Television; it will also be very useful if you are considering becoming a teacher or working in Drama or Art Therapy For anyone hoping to work within public relations, BTEC Acting will help you to develop the confidence and flair necessary for success throughout life.
