Health and Social Care (BTEC) Level 3 Extended Diploma at Rivington and Blackrod High School and Sixth Form
This qualification is designed for learners preparing for roles in health and social care, for example health care assistant, support worker as well as further study on a vocational degree including Social work; Nursing; Occupational Health, Early years, teaching etc. It is designed to be the substantive part of a 16-19 study programme for learners who want a strong core of sector study and a focus on health and social care.
The Health and Social Care (BTEC) Triple Award consists of 13 Units.
8 units are mandatory and 5 are optional.
5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above OR a BTEC level 2 qualification in Health and Social care or a related area.
Assessment for the course is by coursework during the 2 years and 3 exams and 1 external task at the end of the 2 years.
Students must also comlete 100 hours work placement over the 2 years.
The Health and Social Care (BTEC) Level 3 Extended Diploma is the equivalent of 3 A Levels.
On successful completion of a BTEC National qualification learners can progress into or within employment and/or continue their study in the same vocational area. Careers may include social work, nursing and residential care management.
