Floor Covering Level 2 Diploma at Accrington and Rossendale College

Course description

The course is a combination of practical and theory working towards the Level 2 Diploma in Textile and Impervious Floor covering. Attendance is scheduled for Mondays and Fridays, with some weekly blocks timetabled to cover induction, exams and Tutorial reviews.

Successful completion will be based on staged assessments and a final 3-day practical synoptic assignment.

Candidates who are in a position to provide work based evidence will be supported towards building a portfolio of evidence towards their NVQ Level 2, as an addition to their course.

Entry requirements

Applicants under 19 will have successfully completed the Floorcovering Level 1 course. Mature learners and experienced applicants will be expected to have a sound knowledge of the trade. Academic qualifications are preferable (GCSE Grade D in English and Maths), but are not a requirement.


You will be assessed through practical observations, oral questions, written assignments and internal written papers.

Financial information

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds.

This course will cost a maximum of £480 for learners aged 19 years old or above. This fee may be reduced or void depending on the individual’s circumstances.

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion you could progress into employment within the industry, or continue with your studies on the BTEC subsidiary diploma/HNC.
