Computing A-Level at Campion School

Course description

We are now proud to offer OCR Computing A-Level at Campion Sixth Form. Student Voice and next steps data have demonstrated that many more of our Sixth Form students are now opting for apprenticeships and university courses based around Computing and Programming.

This is an academic course which allows students to learn and apply a range of Computing theories and skills. Throughout the two-year course students will learn a range of theories such as understanding computer systems, algorithms & programming and project work. Students studying this course will learn all of the necessary skills and academic knowledge suitable for starting employment, an apprenticeship or a University course. This course is assessed through both examinations and an assessed project.

Entry requirements

It is desirable for students to have achieved a Grade C or above in GCSE ICT and GCSE Maths, along with having a genuine interest to pursue the development of their Computing knowledge and skill.

Future opportunities

This course allows students to develop a range of practical and applied skills that will enable them to pursue their next steps in areas such as Computing, Programming or Games Design. The OCR Computing A-Level will give students an excellent grounding for entering an apprenticeship or studying at University.
