Professional Bakery Level 3 Diploma at The City of Liverpool College

Course description

This course gives students the opportunity to learn and practise advanced skills together with in depth knowledge of raw materials and processes and creating your own business.

Students can choose one of the following learning pathways:

  • Cake making/ Cake decoration/Raw materials/processes/Starting a business
  • Bread and fermented goods/Cake making/ Raw materials/processes/Starting a business
  • Bread and fermented goods/ Cake making/ Cake decoration/Raw materials/processes/Starting a business

This is a very comprehensive course for people who may want a career in the baking or celebration cake industry or to start their own business. Students will work as an individual on practising advanced skills and being original and innovative in design of their own products, the course looks in depth at the theory of raw materials and processes used in the bakery and also to develop enterprising business skills

Entry requirements

  • L2 maths and English or equivalent or working towards
  • L2 Certificate or Diploma Professional Bakery

OR

  • L3 Diploma Food Manufacture

OR

  • Advanced Certificate in Cake Decoration

OR

  • Appropriate industrial background (portfolio will be required for cake decoration or skill test)

Please note there are the following additional costs for this course:

  • Uniform
  • Equipment Kit – knives and cake decoration
  • Dummy cakes
  • Art materials – A3 pad/pencils/poster paints /paint brushes
  • Membership of ABST (bakery students' society) £12 per annum
  • Field trips if appropriate
