Level 3 Travel and Tourism at Leeds City College
This exciting course can lead to employment with a travel agent, travel operator or tourist attraction, work at the airport or for an airline, or get a job working abroad as an overseas representative. The possibilities are endless in the travel and tourism sector!
If you wish to make a career for yourself or undertake further study at university within the travel and tourism sector, this course is a great place to be!
As well as classroom based discussions and lectures, the Level 3 qualification also requires you to undertake a minimum of 60 hours a week of work experience over the course of 1 year, either by block placement or 1 or 2 days a week throughout the year.
Overall you will learn about the travel and tourism industry from customer service, the business of travel and tourism, working in the travel and tourism industry, conferences, exhibitions and events to marketing travel and tourism products. We have excellent employer links, and work experience in the UK or overseas is a large part of the programme.
You will develop vital practical skills required in the industry, such as customer services, whilst gaining knowledge on the travel and tourism industry as a whole.
The opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the field is a bonus, and we encourage students to use this chance wisely, maybe by choosing a work setting which best suits their preferred interest.
16-18 You need 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or a City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma qualification.
19+ You will be interviewed and assessed on your ability to benefit from the course.

Assessment is continuous throughout the programme and takes the form of written assignments, case studies, practical and portfolio completion as well as external exams.
Many opportunities are on offer at the end of the course in the wide and varied tourism sector which supports nearly 30,000 jobs in Leeds alone.
