Music Performance Level 2 Diploma at Stratford-upon-Avon College

Course description

Have you always had an interest in or enjoyed performing music? Do you want to develop your skills and experience further? Are you interested in furthering your qualification profile, with a view to progressing on to a higher level of study?

If so, the Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma in Music is the course for you! This course is a practical, performance-related course that will give you an insight into the career of a musician. Study will combine both practical and theoretical subjects, helping you to develop your instrumental/vocal technique and performance skills, as well as knowledge of music theory, music technology and the workings of the music industry.

Entry requirements

You will need to have at least:

  • 2 GCSEs at grade D / grade 2 or above including English Language, or;
  • 2 GCSEs at grade D / grade 2 or above and Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills English, or;
  • Level 1 qualification in a relevant vocational subject and either GCSE English Language at grade D / grade 2 or above or Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills English.

You will also need to attend an audition. Details will be sent to you following a successful interview.

Mature students without formal qualifications who show commitment to the subject area may be able to join the course following a successful interview and audition.


You will be assessed through the completion of assignments and performance-related projects throughout the course. Attendance and application in all areas is essential for successful completion.
