Computing Extended Diploma at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

This forward-thinking course reflects the wide-ranging talents of individual students by offering three distinct study pathways: Hardware and System Security; Software and Game Development; and Interactive Media Design and Development. Additionally, close liaison between curriculum staff and industry ensures the programme’s ongoing alignment to sector trends to deliver the skills employers really need. All students will develop fundamental skills in areas such as systems, networking and web design before going on to specialise in their chosen area. There is also an emphasis on the development of employability skills. Successful completion leads to university study in Blackpool and across the UK.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English or Maths OR a full Level 2 in IT, plus GCSE English or Maths. (Students with a grade D in English or Maths will be accepted, but must study this GCSE alongside this programme.)

Assessment

Extended Diplomas are coursework rather than exam based.

Financial information

You could be eligible for a 16-19 bursary to help with education-related costs.
