Level 1 Diploma in Health and Social Care at Andover College

Course description

This qualification gives you the opportunity to have varied experiences in making a difference in people’s lives, at the same time gaining skills that you can transfer to other professions. All lecturers have a professional background in the Health and Social Care Sector. During your year, guest speakers and off site visits to local care providers will give you an insight into a variety of different settings, as well as planning and taking part in a leisure activity with learners who have additional needs.

You will succeed on this course if you are keen and enthusiastic to learn. Within our professional and supportive environment you will have respect for other’s views and opinions, show commitment and take responsibility for reaching your full potential, with a strong emphasis on team work. There is no exam!

Evidence gathering includes: essay writing, leaflets, posters, group work including a music ‘jamming’ session with learners who have additional needs, video evidence and practical activities eg feeding fellow class members. End of course activities provide opportunities to celebrate your success and plan the next steps.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at E Grade~ one must be in English with the ability to complete written assignments.
