Media Studies AS and A2 at Ripley St Thomas CE Academy

Course description

You will study media texts across three media platforms of broadcasting, e-media and print.

Course content

You will understand how the media influence audiences and investigate the changing nature of contemporary media. You will study the construction of films, television, newspapers and magazines as well as the web presence of these texts.

Entry requirements

GCSE English Language Grade C.

Assessment

The practical element to the course also gives you the opportunity to choose between making a piece of film, a website or print based materials, developing useful creative and technical skills. At A2 you will embark on advanced production work and the study of the theories and topical debates that underpin the media.

Future opportunities

Recent students have gone on to study film production, journalism, advertising, publishing and  web design at University.   Media Studies adds a dimension that may  be absent from your  academic portfolio especially in the hands-on practical    experience of film-making.
