Japanese at Queen Mary's High School
The Edexcel A’ level Japanese course incorporates both language skills and translation
skills, giving students the opportunity to work with a variety of authentic target-language
materials, including the internet. The topics covered range from modern technology to
environmental issues as a context for language-learning.
Grammar, topics ( reading and writing skills) ,translation skills ( Japanese to English ) ,
Kanji study. Grammar, topics , translation skills ( English to Japanese ), study of an area of Japan and literature.
Statistics show that employment amongst language graduates is second only to medicine and law. More and more employers expect a high level of competence in a modern foreign language and there are now a large number of degree courses with a language component. This is for all MFL entry. Career opportunities include Teaching, Interpreting / Marketing and Business.
