Course description

You can apply to enrol on the AS Statistics course either as a stand alone one year course or as a second year course following the successful completion of an AS course in Mathematics.Course Modules are:Module 1 – Examined in January Provides an introduction to the subject and covers the calculation of numerical measures, discrete and continuous distributions, sampling including the calculation of confidence intervals, correlation and probability.Module 2 – Examined in June Module one knowledge is built on during the second module with further sampling and the Poisson distribution. In this module time series and hypothesis testing are introduced.Module 3 – Examined in June Studies Contingency Tables and Distribution-Free methods together with a more detailed appreciation of Correlation

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C, including English, studied Mathematics GCSE at higher level and ideally have achieved a grade B.
