Travel and Tourism BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Preston's College

Course description

Then this course is ideal. Designed to give you a solid grounding for a career in the travel and tourism industry this course will prepare you for employment or further study. You will research and learn about worldwide destinations, events and attractions while exploring career opportunities available in a range of different travel and tourism organisations.

Course content

Our students enjoy various topics including cabin crew safety, resort welcome meetings, customer service and designing advertising for tourism holidays. During the course you will learn about the travel and tourism industry and holiday activities, planning holidays and trips and researching current (and future) popular destinations of the world. You will also get to take part in visits and residentials to improve your interview, presentation and communication skills. In the second year you are expected to plan and organise your own 60 hour work experience placement.

Entry requirements

You need five GCSE’s (or equivalent) at A*-C grade. A GCSE grade C in either English or maths with a minimum grade D for the other subject. You’ll also need to be willing to participate in practical activities such as workplace activities, study visits and volunteering. To progress to year 2 you must achieve your target grade and attend a progression interview.

Higher Education: Degrees in management with the following specialities tourism, international tourism, events, hospitality, airline and airport, the cruise industry, food tourism, heritage and nature tourism

Apprenticeship: Customer Service, Business & Leisure Travel

Employment: Air Cabin Crew, Travel Consultant, Holiday Representative, Air, Rail and Sea Passenger Service Agent and visitor attractions.
