Media Level 2 Diploma at Carlisle College

Course description

A BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Media Production provides education and training for you to develop technical skills and knowledge relevant to a range of industries in the media sector.  It is a full time course and successful completion will provide opportunities to enter employment or to progress onto a range of Level 3 qualifications in Media, Art and Design or Music or Music Technology or Performing Arts.

Course content

The course is structured around a range of vocational projects which cover a variety of different aspects of the Media industry. These will provide you with the opportunity to develop research skills which underpin all media production, gain a basic understanding of working practices in the media sector and a working knowledge of how media products are constructed for specific audiences.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D or above to include English.


Work is assessed throughout the course via a range of vocationally relevant projects.

Future opportunities

In order to progress onto Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in the above subjects you will require a final grade of merit and a 'C' grade at GCSE in English or equivalent is also required.
