Biology - A Level at Wigan UTC

Course description

Biology is a complex and broad science. You will enjoy this course if you are interested in all aspects of living organisms, how they work and how they interact with their environment. You will develop a logical approach to problem solving combined with practical applications in experiments and fieldwork.

Biology A level is split into six modules: Modules 1 to 6, combined with the Practical Endorsement, constitute the full A Level. The modules can be summarised as:

The practical skills in this module can be assessed within written examinations and (for A Level only) within the Practical Endorsement.

Module 2: Foundations in biology – covering concepts required throughout the remaining modules.

Module 3: Exchange and transport

Module 4: Biodiversity, evolution and disease

Module 5: Communications, homeostasis and energy
