Exercise and Fitness Level 2 Apprenticeship at Preston's College

Course description

Then this Apprenticeship programme is ideal as you’ll gain a combination of qualifications that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work in the industry as a fitness instructor. There are two choices of discipline you can instruct:
-Gym Based Exercise
-Exercise to Music (ETM)

Course content

There are 5 mandatory modules:
– Anatomy & Physiology for Exercise & Health
– Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health
– Health & Safety
– Work with Clients to help them Adhere to Exercise
– Reflect on and Develop Own Practice
Optional Units:
– Gym Based Exercise
– ETM

Students on Apprenticeship programmes are also required to study functional skills such as maths, English and computing, as well as any additional qualifications that their employment requires.

Entry requirements

All Apprenticeships require an initial assessment, interview and employment in the industry. At Level 2, you’ll also need four GCSEs at grade D or above including English and maths.

Assessment

Assessment includes course work, exams (written and practical), oral questioning, a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments.

Future opportunities

After you have successfully completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship, you may continue your employment within industry or you may progress to one of the following:
-Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Personal Training Apprenticeship and continue with your employment
-Level 2 Certificate in Physical Activity for Children (ages 5 – 15)
-Level 2 Award in Circuit Training
-Level 2 Award in Group Indoor Cycling
-Level 3 Diploma In Exercise Referral
