Religious Studies A Level at Bordesley Green Girls' School & Sixth Form

Course description

a) Religion and its relation to the wider world. b) An opportunity to study aspects of more than one religion, including textual, theological, historical, ethical and philosophical perspectives c) The main focus will be study of philosophy of Religion, and the study of Islam and Religion in a contemporary society.

Course content

This qualification in RE encourages students to develop an appreciation of religious thought and its contribution to individuals, communities and societies .It facilitates enquiry and develops insightful evaluation of, ultimate questions about the purposes and commitments of human life, especially as expressed in philosophy, ethics and religion. It enables students to make connections so that in each field of study they understand the influences over time of developments in religious beliefs and practices, the philosophy of religion, ethics and textual interpretation.

Entry requirements

Grade 5 in English Language desirable but over GCSE performance will be taken into consideration

> C in Religious Studies/Education if studied at GCSE
