Foundation Study Programme (Sport, Leisure and Public Services) at Northampton College

Course description

This is an exciting new programme offered in partnership with local employers with real work opportunities. Studies will take place both in the workplace and at College. You will visit Northampton leisure centres, playschemes, street football sessions, trips to Twickenham, other premiership sports grounds, Silverstone grand prix circuit. You will study part of your course at these venues. You will work with local schools and The Boys Brigade to offer sports and activity sessions for children. There will be the opportunity to take part in sports clubs and competitions including Leicester Tigers, Touch Rugby and inter groups sports competitions. Traineeships and apprenticeships are available in some areas.Our Sport, Leisure and Public Services pathway is offered in partnership with Northampton Saints HITZ Programme, Barclays, Land Rover, Comic Relief, Northampton Leisure Trust Centres, Gyms & Northants Police. It will take place in a variety of locations:- The Saints, Franklin Gardens- Northampton College, Booth Lane, Northampton- Northampton College, Badby Road West, DaventryEveryone does Mathematics and English at a level that is right for them - from Entry Level 2 Functional Skills up to GCSE. You will also study employability topics to help prepare you for the workplace.

Course content

Students who have no GCSE results, or do not have 4 E Grades, or who have not attended some of their school education and need to achieve an Entry Level or Level 1 qualification in order to progress onto their chosen vocational area or into employment or apprenticeships.When can you start? Entry requirements

To start a Vocational Studies Programme you do not need any qualifications. Just the attitude to attend and take part!

Assessment

There are varying methods of assessment within the programme, e.g. observations, role play, professional discussions, written tasks and presentations, workbooks, written assessments and computer based activities.

Further information

If you are aged 19 or over on 1st September the examination fee payable at enrolment will be approxiamately £40.
