Course description

Whether you are a budding Prime Minister or just interested in finding out who makes the decisions which affect our lives on a daily basis, studying A Level Government & Politics will equip you with the necessary knowledge and understanding to make sense of the world of politics.

Entry requirements

  • At least 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C across a range of subject areas, including English Language

You will need to retake GCSE Maths as part of your programme if you do not have a grade C. You may be advised to retake GCSE Science, depending on your chosen career.

Assessment

All units are examined with a combination of short and essay style questions.


Further information

You will have the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament and, if you are fortunate enough, you may even get to sit in on Prime Minister's Question Time.

Government & Politics combines well with other subjects like History, Sociology, Economics, Law and Philosophy. It also offers breadth for those studying a science-based programme.
