Children and Young People's Workforce Level 2 Certificate at Preston's College
You’ll study child development, reflective practice, duty of care for children, involving parents and supporting all areas of development allowing you to work with children in a range of childcare settings.
The course is made up of 6 mandatory units. Subjects covered include understanding children’s development, keeping children safe, communicating with children and adults, promoting a safe environment and development of 0-3 year olds.
You need four GCSE’s at grade D or above including English and maths. You’ll also need a DBS (disclosure and barring service) check. You also need to arrange a placement for at least 8 hours per week in a setting working with children/young people.
Assessment will be through a range of projects involving cross college teams, including learning outside the classroom setting.
Successful completion of this course will provide you with the national qualification required to work with children in a range of childcare settings.
Once employed in a childcare setting you may apply to study towards the Level 3 Children’s Play, Learning and Development (EYE). The qualification is relevant to the following careers:
– Early Years Care
– Children’s Services
– Nursery Nursing
