History at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form Free School

Course description

History is an academically challenging subject. You will be expected to read very widely and you must also be able to think logically and be good at evaluating contrasting and often conflicting evidence and opinions. Provisionally we are considering the following units:

* The Russian Revolution 1881-1924 and Stalin’s Russia 1924 -1953

* Henry VIII and his quest for authority in Europe 1509-1540

* Germany 1900- 45, assessing the change from Kaiser to Fuhrer

* The study of medieval medicine.

Entry requirements

Our entry requirements are in-line with other local providers. To study with us you will need to have an average of at least 6 grade Bs at GCSE, (including grade B’s in any subjects that you wish to study at A level that you have already studied at GCSE.) We are aware that there may be special circumstances that mean that you won’t achieve this level of results. We do sometimes reduce this minimum standard under such conditions - please do get in touch.
