Science Access to Higher Education and Employment at Central College Nottingham

Course description

This course is suitable for students wanting a career in the science industry.

Course content

Access to Higher Education Diplomas aim to ensure that you are well prepared for university study as well as future employment, therefore the additional subject of Study Skills is delivered. If you are returning to learning after a break from education, then this course could be for you.

The main focus of the Science course is Chemistry but it also covers Biology and Maths. You will focus on underpinning knowledge within Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Human Biology.

Entry requirements

You must have the minimum requirement of GCSE English and Maths at grade A* to C. All applicants will undertake assessments in English and Maths, prior to your interview, demonstrating current skills at Level 2. You will need to bring evidence of any qualifications you may have achieved to your interview.

Assessment

A range of assessment methods are used to demonstrate that learning outcomes have been achieved and to help prepare you for study at university. These may include essays, timed assessments under controlled conditions, practicals and report writing.

Future opportunities

The majority of our students who achieve their Access to HE Diplomas progress onto Science and Health Sciences undergraduate programmes of study, many of them with local universities.

Further information

Students achieving the Science Access Diiploma will qualify for Student Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
