Driving Goods Vehicles Level 3 at TIR Training Services

Course description

This apprenticeship is suitable for those in a senior driver role, ie an experienced driver who has additional responsibilities in the business but who still carries out their primary role within the organisation. For example those in roles similar to supervisor or team leader and those given additional responsibilities in the absence of more senior staff or during certain shift patterns. It requires learners to demonstrate competence in not just driving correctly but also, preparing a vehicle and loading and unloading. It also includes wider competencies such as provide leadership for your team, take responsibility for Health and Safety, Inducting new colleagues into logistic operations, optimising the use of logistics resources and improving performance in logistics operations.

Course content

To achieve this qualification, learners must firstly identify their relevant pathway then complete 3 mandatory units and a selection of optional units. Below is an example of the mandatory and optional groups To achieve this qualification, learners must choose a vehicle specific pathway from the following: •Pathway 1: Motor cycle/pedal cycle •Pathway 2: Van •Pathway 3: Rigid vehicle •Pathway 4: Articulated or drawbar vehicle Within each pathway, learners must complete all units from the mandatory group; one unit from each of the optional group. Below is an example of the mandatory and optional groups. Mandatory units: •Contribute to the provision of customer service in logistics operations •Provide leadership for your team in logistics operations •Take responsibility for health, Safety and Security in your team Optional units include: •Drive the vehicle on public or private roads •Prepare the vehicle for driving •Ensure the vehicle is loaded correctly •Ensure the vehicle is unloaded correctly •Allocate and check work in your team in logistics operations •Help team members address problems affecting their performance in logistics operations •Routing and scheduling of loads •Arrange the transportation of goods.
