Law BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Hertford Regional College
This qualification provides you with the opportunity to gain a recognised vocational qualification in Applied Law. The course will help you enter employment in the legal sector as well as develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attitudes that are needed to succeed in your working life and to allow access to employment opportunities in the legal sector.
Over the course the year, you will study six units. The units that you study are likely to include:
- Dispute Solving in the Legal System
- Understanding Law Making
- Aspects of Legal Liability
- Unlawful Homicide and Police Powers
- Contract Law
- Consumer Law
You will also take an additional qualification in business covering the following units:
- The Business Environment
- Business Resources
- Introduction to Marketing
- Business Communication
At least 200 GCSE entry points with a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C including Maths and English or Key Skills Level 2, or a Level 2 qualification such as a First Diploma (at Merit Level or above)
Assessment is continuous throughout the course. You will be assessed on different assignment tasks for each unit. There may be controlled assessments for some units.
Free to those under 19 on 31st August 2016. If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2016, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last three years, and are a fee paying new entrant you will pay £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). However, fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). You will be required to pay an administration fee, exam fees, kit fee, materials fee and an Awarding Body Registration fee if applicable. For these costs please contact our Information Centre.

You will have the chance to take part in additional activities, including sport. Should you need to, you will re-sit GCSE English and/or Maths if you have a grade D or take Functional Skills in English and Maths to improve your skills.
