Sociology at Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

Course material is chosen to enable an understanding of the different theoretical approaches adopted by sociologists towards their subject matter, including issues of social order, social control and social change.

AS Students begin by studying 'An Introduction to Sociology'. They then study Families & Households, Education and Research Methods in context.

A2 Students study Beliefs in Society. They then undertake the Study of Crime and Deviance, together with Theory and Methods.

Entry requirements

Grade C in English or Humanities is required and a sense of commitment and a willingness to work hard.
