BTEC National SubsidiaryDiploma in Health and SocialCare at The Highfield School
A 60 credit diploma, which can be combined with any
other Level 3 qualification. You would be expected to
take a Subsidiary Diploma alongside at least 2 other AS
levels in year 12.
Features of the Course
Core units: Developing Effective Communication in
Health and Social Care; Quality, Diversity and Rights in
Health and Social care; Health, Safety and Security in
Health and Social care. Specialist units: a choice of 3
from 18 units which could include Exploring Personal
and Professional Development in Health and Social
Care [a strongly recommended unit which would build
on the 50 hours of work experience which you will
undertake on this course]; Development Through the Life
Stages; Caring for Children and Young
People; Supporting and Protecting Adults; Nutrition for
health and Social Care.
Assessment and Grading - through assignments which
can be presented in a variety of ways and which are
marked internally and moderated externally. The
assignments are graded Pass, Merit and Distinction.
