Performing Arts BTEC Level 3 at John Cabot Academy

Course description

Learn an exciting and wide range of performance skills and styles  and use them to create Theatre that pushes boundaries, changes minds and above all entertains.

Course content

Year 1

Investigating Practitioners’ Work: This unit covers the theories of different theatrical greats rehearsing, developing. Mastering and then performing to a paying audience! 
Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance: This unit is all about performing, you will learn new techniques, rehearsal skills and be assessed on nothing but what you bring on the night!

Year 2

Group Performance Workshop: This unit will teach you create brand new exciting work, here you are the writer, director and performer. 
Movement in Performance: This unit will teach you cutting edge performance technique, movement skills, lifts, throws and new and inventive ways to express yourself on stage – and as with every unit, you will perform these skills to an audience.

Entry requirements

Drama GCSE, BTEC level 2 performing arts or previous performing experience are advantageous but not essential. Passion for the Arts is!

Future opportunities

Our performers go on to study performing arts Foundation and BA (hons) degrees in acting, performing arts and film and TV studies. We also have students who find places at drama school.
