ICT (OCR Nationals) at Kettering Science Academy

Course description

The OCR Level 2 Nationals in ICT have been developed to provide you with an introduction to the skills, knowledge and understanding required to prepare for work in the information and communication technology sector. They have also been designed to help you develop your personal skills in the areas of team working, career planning, communication and problem solving. They accredit your abilities to carry out a range of tasks and have been designed to accredit your achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the workplace.

Unit 1 ICT Skills for Business

Unit 2 Webpage creation

Unit 3 Digital imaging - plan and produce computer graphics

Unit 4 Design and produce multimedia products

Unit 5 Desktop publishing

Unit 6 Spreadsheets - design and use

Unit 7 Databases - design and use

Unit 20 Creating animation for the WWW using ICT

Unit 21 Creating computer graphics

Unit 22 Creating sound using ICT

Unit 23 Creating Video

Assessment

All units are assessed by your teacher and externally checked by a visiting examiner. All units are graded: Pass, Merit or Distinction. Full award certificates will be graded: Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Future opportunities

Completion of the course will provide students with the basic knowledge and skills needed for employment, not only in the computer industry, but in a wide range of other occupations.

Success at First Certificate level will meet the necessary requirements for more advanced courses of study at AVCE or AS Level.

OCR Level 2 National First Award in ICT: same level as 1 GCSE grade A*-C

OCR Level 2 National Award in ICT: same level as 2 GCSEs grades A*-C
