Electrical Installation Diploma Level 2 at Gloucestershire College

Course description

This qualification will teach you the theory and regulations of electrical installation,
including wiring systems, health and safety policies, and science and principles.

This one year course will leave you equipped to become a trainee electrician. Functional skills are also integrated into the course and you will be taught Communication, Application of number and ICT and these skills are an integral part of your learning experience.
Electricians work on a very wide range of projects, from bringing power to homes to taking part in major engineering projects. Their tasks can range from transporting data along fibre optic cables to programming computer-controlled ‘intelligent’ buildings and factories. They can also work with renewable technology, such as wind turbines or photovoltaic systems that turn the sun’s energy into electricity.

Course content

You will study

  • domestic and industrial wiring systems
  • electrical science and health and safety.

Entry requirements

You will need to have 3 GCSE's at grade D or above or have successfully completed the Level 1 qualification with functional skills.

Future opportunities

On completion you may progress on to an apprenticeship, complete the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation or seek employment in the industry.

Further information

Steel toe capped shoes/boots and sturdy clothing to protect your body will be required.
