Start of a workbased level 2 NVQ Apprenticeship career that can lead to a level 3 qualification and onto employment as a Body Repair Technician for applicants who successfully complete the course.
Practical and theory aspects of removal and refittment of light vehicle body panels.
Repairs to body panels.
Preparing body panels for paint.
Health and safety awareness in motor vehicle repair workshop.
Motorvehicle construction and layout of major vehicle systems and components.
Use of measuring instruments required in vehicle body repair.
Working with groups and as an individual.
Responsibility for personal actions taken.
No pre-entry qualifications required but you should have a real interest in learning about motor vehiclebody repairboth in a practical and theoretical environment.
Applicants should expect toobtain orhave GCSEs at grade D or above, in English, Mathematics, and a Science.But more importantly they must want to pursue a career in the vehicle repair industry.
Additional support is given to the selected learners who do not have the required GCSEs to ensure that they are able to progress their qualification.
Assessment is by a combination ofproducing portfolio evidence of jobs completed at work.
Observation by a qualified Assessor.
Web based assessment by multi-choice questions.
For apprentices aged 16 to 25 the costs are normally met by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).
Progression onto a motor vehicle level 3 body repair apprenticeship programme leading to fully qualified Body Repair Technician status..
The course is an Apprenticeship based on 4 days per week in a motor vehicle body repair company and 1 day per week attendance atour Training Centre.
The full qualification consists of the NVQ certification that is about proving your competence in industry, a Technical Certificate that checks your knowledge and Key Skills communication, application of number and ICT all at level 1.
