BTEC Public Services Level 2 at Birchwood Community High School

Course description

This is a one year programme and is the equivalent to two GCSEs.

Public Service Skills – an introduction to the different types of public services and the skills that are needed. Students will review their current skills and plan actions to improve in areas that need development.

Employment in the Uniformed Public Services or Non-uniformed Public Services – an understanding of the opportunities in the public service area that most interests the students.

Improving Health and Fitness in the Public Services- This unit aims to enable students to gain knowledge of the major body systems and an understanding of the effects of basic nutrition and lifestyle factors for entry into the uniformed public services. It also develops students’ skills in taking part in fitness tests and improving their personal health.

Attending Emergency Situations in Public Services- The aim of this unit is to enable learners to develop knowledge and understanding of domestic and leisure fire incidents and their prevention measures.
