A Level Economics at Danum Academy
The AS course builds on understanding of the important concepts that underpin the study of Economics, in particular, we look at how the Government is running the economy and how we, as consumers, make our decisions. Students will also study the housing market in depth as one of the modules. The A2 course focuses on international trade and in particular, the European Union. It also analyses economic decision-making in detail and studies the role of competitive markets in the economy.
Economics is a subject in its own right at Universuty. Alternatively, many students use Economics as the basis for progression to degrees in Business Studies, Accountacy, Law, Politics or as part of a modular degree in Humanities or Social Science. Many of our ex-students have gone on to successful careers in management, finance and other high profile industries.
Economics aims to make sense of the world in which we live. It is concerned with the real world and is therefore constantly in the news. Economics examines such questions as what kind of ploicies can reduce unemployment in the UK? What economic measures can be taken to deal with pollution? Should the Goverment cut the tax on petrol? Will a single European currency be good thing for the UK? Should we scrap Third World debt? And so on.
