Course description
Art and Design (Textiles) is the applied art dedicated to the design of clothing, and interior and lifestyle accessories.
Students explore a variety of surface enhancement techniques, such as embroidery, heat tool techniques, dyeing and printing. These are developed through their own direct observational work and their research into artists/ designers. Work is presented as a coursework portfolio (sketchbook/notebooks and A1 mounted sheets) which includes one or more final pieces in either 2D or 3D.

Entry requirements
GCSE Grade C in Textiles or C in Art.
Future opportunities
Students can progress into the following further education or employment areas once having gained an AS/A Level grade in Art and Design (Textiles):
Art & design, graphic design, advertising and marketing, interior design, fashion design, industrial design, illustration, textile design, architecture, fashion journalism.
