Spanish A level at The Ecclesbourne School

Course description

A-level Spanish helps you develop comprehension of the written and spoken word in Spanish, as well as developing your spoken and written skills in the language. You will also develop an real appreciation of Hispanic culture and literature.

Units for AS will build on and extend familiar GCSE themes. The four main topics are Media, Popular Culture, Healthy Living / Lifestyle and Family / Relationships. You will take an oral exam and listening, reading and writing exam in the Summer.

Units at A2 allow you to study two cultural topics in depth, such as a Spanish play or novel, a Spanish painter, architect, director or musician, a Spanish speaking region or a period of 20th Century history from a Spanish speaking country. You will also study topics of the Environment, the Multicultural Society and Contemporary Social Issues.
