Course description

 BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering. Also known as 'Single Engineering' - this course is equivalent to one A-Level. The units give a broad knowledge and skills grounding that relate to a wide range of engineering specialisms. The units interlink and a lesson may cover three or four different units, allowing a deeper understanding to be reached. Wherever possible, students learn through practical tasks, assignments and projects. Possible units: Mechanical Principals -understand simple systems mechanics found in machinery, equipment and products. Electrical and Electronic Principles provides a solid grounding in the fundamentals as purely mechanical or electrical/electronic devices are unusual.Computer Aided Drafting drawings are the language of engineering so it is vitally important to create 3D drawings of components and assemblies to a good standard. This unit shows you how.Computer Aided Manufacture CAD work will be converted into manufactured products using CNC lathes and milling machines. Wider learning looks at manufacturing systems and how processes fit into a production operation.Health & Safety and Maths Units- absolute essentials in any engineering workplace

Entry requirements

5 A*-B grades at GCSE including English, Mathematics and two science subjects.
