Motorcycle Maintenance IMI Level 1 Diploma at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College

Course description

Are interested in motorcycles? Do you want to take your first step on the journey into the motorcycle industry? If so our Level 1 Diploma will introduce you to the world of motorcycle maintenance, and provide you with the skills and training you need to develop a great career in the industry.This study programme covers the basic technical needs for todays motorcycle repair industry. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on motorcycles in all kinds of garages and dealerships.

Course content

During the study programme you will complete a number of units which give you the foundation skills and knowledge of the operational systems of a motorcycle. The units include; health and safety in the working environment., Tools, equipment and simple fabrication techniques, motorcycle construction, motorcycle chassis systems, engines systems, transmission systems, motorcycle electrical and electronic systems and anintroduction to low carbon technologies in the automotive industry.

Entry requirements

GCSE at Grade D - G,initial assessment levels Entry 3 - Level 1 in English and Maths, good report from school, good attendance above 95% and attitude to match.

Assessment

You will be assessed carrying out a number of practical tasks in the workshop; there will also be in-class verbal and written assessments and a number of online assessments for all of your study programme elements (including English and Maths).

Financial information

You will require steel to-cap boots, overalls, pen/pencil, notepad/folder and a memory stick.

We offer a bursary that students can apply for help with costs that are associated with a course. This could be help with the cost of travel, books, materials, equipment, uniforms, childcare and examination and registration fees. Future opportunities

On successful completion of your study programme including English and Maths your next step will be to progress onto our Level 2 Motorcycle study programme. This will be in addition to a high level of commitment, effort, positive attitude and a minimum of 80% attendance.

Further information

You will be required to attend 3 days per week as this is a full-time course. It is compulsory for you to attend all sessions including English and Maths functional skills. A minimum attendance of 95% is required during the programme. Work experience is also a mandatory element to the study programme which must be attended.
