Course description

The AS and A2 course can help you to understand some aspects of life in the modern world.  Have you ever wondered why both men and women vote in elections or why we have a system of government in this country with a Prime Minister, Government and Opposition?  Why are we still a Monarchy whereas France is a Republic with a President?  Why do we remain suspicious of Russia’s intentions?  This History course looks at a very turbulent and exciting period of History in both Britain and Europe.  Lots of the events played a major part in the development of the world as we know it today .In addition, the course will develop skills which are essential for the modern world.  These include communication – both oral and written – analysis, interpretation of events and opinions to detect bias, research skills, selection and evaluation.
