BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Operations and Maintenance Engineering at Trafford College

Course description

This course is designed to meet the requirements of both employers and employees within the maintenance engineering industry. The course is also suitable for anyone who wishes to progress to further or higher education in their chosen field, or who wishes to gain a basic understanding of process maintenance theory and practice. 12 units are required for the Certificate - 6 per year.6 Core Units comprise: Business Systems for Technicians; Communications for Technicians; Science for Technicians; Mathematics for Technicians; Operations & Maintenance Procedures & Techniques; Project.6 Specialist Units from the following: Monitoring & Fault Diagnosis; Health, Safety & Welfare; Mechanical Technology; Mechanical Principles; Electrical Technology; Engineering Materials; Electro, Pneumatics & Hydraulic Systems; Plant Services & Operation; Engineering, Drawing & CAD; Fluid Mechanics.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade C or equivalent including Maths, English and a Science subject or a BTEC First Certificate or GNVQ in Engineering. College discretion may be used in special cases, such as mature students.

Assessment

Your progress is monitored by internal and external assessment, assignments and written tests.

      The site is situated on Talbot Road (A5014), 2 miles from M602 slip Road (Junction 3) and 2 miles from Junction 7 of the M60. The College is located opposite Lancashire County Cricket Club and approximately 10 minutes walk from Old Trafford Football Ground.
