Performing Arts BTEC level 3 National Extended Certificate at Falmouth School

Course description

This smaller course complements three other choices of A Level and thus has a timetable of three classes per week. Students on the National Extended Certificate will be timetabled with the relevant teachers at the same time as those on the National Extended Diploma, although only four units are studied on the smaller course in total.

Future opportunities

The course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, the understanding and the skills required for success within the performing arts industry. The course also ensures progression to Higher Education, particularly degree courses in related disciplines along with an excellent broader base of the wider skills required for a vast selection of other specialist subjects. An interview at Falmouth University is guaranteed, and it is likely that preferential offers will be made to local students. Previous students have gone on to read degrees in Dance, Drama, Film, English literature and Cultural Management; others have started their own theatre companies or trained professionally as actor/performers. Career opportunities can include all elements of performance both live and through the media but there are many other options including arts or events management, teachers at all levels, theatre/dance critics, animators, drama or movement therapists.
