Hairdressing Level 2 Diploma at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

This is a one year course which focuses on the development of the underlying principles and practical skills required in the hairdressing industry. 

Course content

You may study the following: • Working in Hairdressing • Maintain Health and Safety practices in the Salon • Consult with the Client for Hairdressing Services • Shampoo and Condition the Hair and Scalp • Cut Women’s Hair • The Art of Dressing Hair • Colour and Lighten Hair • Provide Perming Services • Promote Products and Services to Clients • Work placement All LMC students will receive tutorial support and take a programme of Functional Skills including maths and English. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-D including English or maths OR a Level 1 related qualification. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.

Assessment

This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including practical, oral and written assignments, together with portfolio building and online testing.

Financial information

You will need: • Uniform (tunic and trousers) £47.00 approx. • Hairdressing kit £144.00 approx. • Book £27.00 (recommended. Possible trips and events that are available but not compulsory include: (This can be subject to change) • Salon International - £140.00 approx. • Hair & Beauty UK - £15.00 approx. Future opportunities

The natural route of progression would be the Level 2 NVQ Hairdressing or an Apprenticeship. Alternately, to widen your career prospects, you could progress to a beauty therapy course. 

Further information

You will be expected to undertake regular home study on this course. 

On completion of this course you will receive City and Guilds Level 2 VRQ Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing
