Course Overview

This course is offered as a two year course.  OCR Level 3 Business Studies is a prestigious, exciting, challenging and ‘real’ course that allows you to apply your understanding of business in a variety of ways: posters, reports, diagrams, role-play and organising and managing events.  It brings the business world to life.  You will visit many organisations to clarify your understanding of business; allowing you to apply ‘real’ examples to your work, ensuring you have every opportunity to meet your full potential.  Students can opt to take the Single Award (Extended Certificate/1 A Level) or Double Award (Diploma/ 2 A Levels).

Where can this lead?

This can lead to a career in the business world, giving you an underpinning knowledge of how the business you work for functions. Students have been highly successful at acquiring apprenticeships/employment directly from the course, it is a well sought after qualification by employers as it fully prepares you for the world of work. In addition to this – the course has the same UCAS points as A Levels so therefore gives you the same opportunities to access university courses.

  • Unit 1:     Business Environment (exam)
  • Unit 4:     Customers and Communications (coursework)

 

Plus the following for the double award:

  • Unit 11:   Accounting Concepts (coursework)

        · Unit 2:     Working in Business (exam)

        · Unit 16:   Principles of Project Management (coursework)

Single Award (Extended Certificate)

Double Award (Diploma)

  • Unit 5:     Delivering a Business Project (coursework)

  • Unit 12:   Financial Accounting (coursework)
  • Unit 7:     Management Accounting (coursework)

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs (or equivalent), can be a mixture of Vocational and traditional GCSEs, graded 9-5.  English and Mathematics must be included at grade 5 and above.  Candidates must attend a course interview.
