A2 ICT at Phoenix Academy
The course aims are: to help students who wish to go on to higher education courses or employment where understanding how ICT can be used in society and business, and the implications of its use, will be a valuable asset to offer opportunities to improve practical ICT skills. Syllabus: AQA The course will be modular. The assessment objective will be as follows: The need for the organisation and manipulation of data and information. Investigate and analyse problems and produce solutions using a range of software. Features In theory lessons, students will study a range of ICT applications. They will also be taught to comment critically on the implications of current uses of ICT. In practical units students will learn practical ICT skills such as animation, web design and database design as well as how to analyse problems and apply appropriate solutions. Assessment will include both final examination and the submission of coursework.
There is no specialist requirement beyond the standard entry requirements. However, a GCSE (or equivalent) in ICT or Business Studies is desirable. Students are expected to have an interest ICT.
ICT would combine well with all other subjects offered.
