Engineering (Manufacturing) BTEC Intermediate Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

This course is designed to provide you with a specialist work-related qualification and training in manufacturing engineering.

It provides sound preparation for those seeking an apprenticeship or progression to a higher level course such as Higher National Diploma. The course is both academic and practical, and taught in well-equipped workshops with a wide range of industry-standard machine tools.


Course content

You will gain the basic skills and understanding of mechanical engineering. The course includes engineering processes and techniques, working practices and science and maths for technicians.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade D or above.


Assessment is via one external exam and a combination of tests and practical tasks.

Financial information

A full CEMAST uniform and safety equipment must be purchased by new students when they join. This will include overalls, steel toe cap safety shoes, safety glasses and a polo shirt to be worn when on campus.

Future opportunities

Students who have successfully completed a level 2 qualification in Manufacturing may wish to expand their knowledge by studying another specialism, such a mechanical or electrical engineering at Level 3.

Students can also go on to apply for a Higher Apprenticeship programme.
